Software Engineer – Python + Docker

About the role

Verita AI is seeking experienced backend software engineers for a fully remote, asynchronous contractor opportunity. Complete realistic software engineering tasks that help train and evaluate next-generation AI systems.

Experts complete one task per day on average. This short-term engagement lasts 2–3 weeks, with an immediate start available.

Scope of Work

• Complete tasks focused on realistic software engineering workflows for AI training and evaluation.
• Work independently and collaborate effectively with distributed engineering teams.
• Apply software engineering best practices in version control, testing and code quality.

What you’ll bring

• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong Python proficiency, including experience with FastAPI, Flask or Django.
• Experience building and maintaining backend applications.
• Proficiency with Git and Docker and familiarity with modern development workflows.
• Daily proficiency with AI coding assistants such as Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, GitHub Copilot or similar tools.
• Solid understanding of version control, testing, code quality and software engineering best practices.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively in distributed teams.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• A LinkedIn profile is required. Include your LinkedIn URL on your resume.

Preferred Qualifications

• AI evaluation, benchmarking or model assessment.
• AI data creation or annotation workflows.
• Building SaaS integrations or APIs.
• Developing QA frameworks or evaluation methodologies.
• Designing realistic, long-horizon software engineering tasks for AI systems.

Schedule and availability

Fully remote and asynchronous, with flexible hours and an expected one completed task per day.

Contract & Payment Terms

• $300 USD per completed task, with one completed task expected per day; this is not an hourly rate.
• Short-term contractor engagement lasting 2–3 weeks, with an ASAP start.
• Selected candidates complete a 90-minute technical screening focused on Python and Docker.
• Participants who pass the screening, join the study and complete at least one task receive a $100 onboarding bonus in addition to standard task compensation.
